The summer is flying by here.
We had a tremendously wet and cool June. I am afraid July is going to be hotter and drier.
Welcome to July’s “In My Kitchen.” IMK is hosted each month by Sherry’s Pickings. It’s an international group of food-minded bloggers who highlight new items or produce or recipes from their kitchen each month. (I am always intrigued with what will be posted each month. As I talk about the heat, the Aussie participants are experiencing mid-winter weather.)![]()
Here’s what’s new “In My Kitchen.”
I have shown great restraint and there are no new cookbooks “In My Kitchen” this month. There is a new magazine though.
As a perk for donating to our local public radio station, we are now receiving Wine Spectator. I literally feel like this magazine comes every other week! I was a little dubious about it. Don’t get me wrong, we love our wine but I thought the mag would be a bit frou-frou and pretentious. Far from it. I love the stories about the family farmers and chefs, the articles about agave and bourbon, and the recipes!
Although I will continue to donate to our NPR station, this is a nice incentive.
The Hubs declared last weekend that he was cooking dinner and that he had been planning it all day (in his head as we toiled in the yard). He was inspired by our recent viewing of The Chef Show.
He grilled some delicious hamburgers with a trio of cheeses. The best part of the meal might have been these Brioche buns, but his three cheese medley (as inspired by said Chef Show) made the burgers delicious as well. It was a great combination!
There was no brand marker, only this name and address on the back of the buns.
Not the best marketing plan—to put your name right below all the additives. 🙂
When my mom and sister visited in May, Sis brought me a tub of Citrus Lavender tea that was delicious. (Truth be told, she was bringing it to me because she did not care for it.) I loved it and have sought out some of the other flavors. The Early Grey Creme is delicious as well. I picked up a peach flavor that was not my cup of tea, however.
You might remember a couple of months ago, I mentioned some pickles that were delicious and gourmet-ish. I bought them at our local farm and ranch supply store.
Again, here’s another great food find from that same store: Dot’s Pretzels. These have just the right amount of spice. (I was introduced to these pretzels by the same person who put me on to the pickles!)
Besides these items, there’s lots (I mean LOTS) of frozen berries and jam in our kitchen and cupboards. See my last post for all the berry good details.
Please stop by Sherry’s Pickings to see what everyone around the world is posting up for July.
